Alternative 1: Vienna’s most famous classical composers

This guided tour leads you to Vienna’s most famous memorial places which are dedicated to the three most successful and influential classical composers of all times: Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven. The tour starts with the house of Haydn in the 6th district, proceeds with Schubert’s birthplace in the 9th district and terminates at Beethoven’s flat in the 19th district. You are given an intimate portrait of all three composers, their lives and their works.

Admire the imperial masterpieces at the magnificent Kunsthistorische Museum Vienna: paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Velázquez, Titian and Dürer, as well as the world’s largest collection of Bruegels. At the Kunstkammer Vienna discover for yourself the famous Saliera by Benvenuto Cellini and, at the Neue Burg on the opposite side of Vienna’s Ringstrasse, sumptuously ornate suits of armour and the precious instruments of famous musicians.

The Leopold Museum houses the world’s largest Schiele collection and masterpieces by Gustav Klimt. Additionally, paintings, graphics and objects of the 19th and 20th centuries, including precious handcrafts and original art nouveau and Wiener Werkstätte furniture, are on view at the Leopold Museum.

Alternative 4: Apple Strudel Show (Schloss Schönbrunn)

A professional pastry chef hand-bakes original Viennese apple strudel at the demonstration bakery in Schönbrunn Palace’s Café Residenz.

Onlookers not only learn how this divine Viennese dessert is made, but are also given the original Viennese Apple Strudel recipe to try out for themselves at home. The mouthwatering aromas that issue forth from the bakery make it hard to resist trying a piece of freshly baked apple strudel with coffee or tea at one of the small tables in the imperial bakery.

Alternative 5: Laboratory visit

People from TU Wien will guide you through the labs of the institutes of Solid State Electronics and Photonics.
